What is your #SmallBiz about?

I create eco friendly, figure flattering women’s clothing that contribute to making the world a better place one garment at a time.  We use plant based certified fabrics and each item is handmade in Canada and hand dyed with low impact, non-toxic dyes.

I feel so blessed to be able to create clothing that makes women look great.  Many of our styles can be worn in multiple ways which allows the customer to easily find a look that flatters them.  The best part of my day is when a customer puts on a piece of our clothing, looks in the mirror and is so happy with how they look.  I love making women feel confident, and providing a healthy clothing option!

How did you get started?

I have wanted to design my own clothing line since I was 12 years old. My grandmother and mother taught me how to sew my own Barbie clothes at a young age and I was hooked. I still use the sewing machine I purchased with my first part time job!

In summer of 2016, I was told that I didn't seem happy at my job anymore. This was after working 5 years for a company that I treated like my own. The head office was moving out of province and I was given a choice:  I could keep my job and move my family or figure out a new plan. The funny thing was they were right, I wasn't happy. Things had changed, the company focus had shifted. It became focused on profits over people. After working for clothing retailers and manufacturers for over 15 years, I watched profits skyrocket and ethics plummet. I knew my 12 year old self who planned to be her own boss designing clothes and living in a castle wouldn't approve!

So I decided to create something meaningful, that would make people feel good and do no harm.

What does being a #CanadianMade small business mean to you?

Canadian business is a vital part of our economy that I am so excited to be a part of. Supporting local and Canadian made businesses/products is so important for our economy.  It is great to see customers looking for and supporting Canadian made!
