Tell us about you +  Love, Lilith Creations

We both bring our very diverse skills and experiences to Love, Lilith Creations and our products.

Susan is committed to social and community participation and activism. After many years of a career in massage therapy and energy work, a car accident changed her career path. When Susan’s natural affinity for good energy and healing gemstones met art -- a maker was born.

Cheryl spent many years as a social worker, community worker before taking a ‘break’ (that has lasted 18 years, so far) to pursue playing drums in some bands and working in the outdoors industry. Cheryl also is a certified personal trainer and coach.

We both believe in the importance of healing, social justice, compassion, and community. Our passion for a better world, vitality, joy, and the gift of creative expression are the prime drivers behind the work that we do.

Working creatively together is beautiful opportunity to grow together, and we love watching ideas come to life.

How did you two get interested in becoming makers?

We are both creative individuals who enjoy collaborative craftiness. We had previously channelled this energy into handmade gifts for friends and family members, or small-batch items for community events.

Two years ago, Love, Lilith Creations was born from the desire to expand the scope of our creative output into our communities, starting from a dream and learner’s mindset and growing into regular participants at community pop-up markets and holiday craft shows. Partnering with The Nooks seems like an awesome next step in this trajectory.

What do you love about being makers?

What we love most about being Makers is the beautiful process by which a dream becomes an idea, an idea becomes a prototype, which becomes a product, which then can become something that puts a smile and good energy into someone’s day.

A close tie with this is our love for meeting interesting people, having inspiring conversations, and using creativity as an act of resistance to bring us closer to being the change we want to see.

What do you specialize in within the handmade world?

We are always creating, dreaming and envisioning new ideas for products.

Our current product specialities include:

  • Quirky & eye-catching ‘wearable art’ glass pendants, that utilize custom graphics, photography, & other mixed media to spread a message of love, resistance, joy, and as many smiles as possible.

  • Handmade one-of-kind stone pendant necklaces are inspired by the world around us, the beautiful souls we meet, and the gift of the opportunity to be the change we want to see in this world. Each unique piece features a variety of materials which may include: semi-precious stones, sparkling glass beads, silver, warm and earthy wood, & leather.

  • Handmade semi-precious stone bracelets featuring specially tailored stones and combinations to channel the best healing properties associated with each stone. Each stackable bracelet features 10mm semi-precious stones with Tibetan silver accents. We know that not one size fits all, and have taken care to ensure that our bracelets are sized to fit a variety of beautiful beings.

  • Dreaming of what could be next...

Describe your artistic community and how you think people in your community see you...

Our artistic community is filled with entrepreneurs, dreamers, and people working to bring positive change to their communities and beyond.

We love meeting other makers at pop-up events and community craft shows. Our circle has expanded recently to include the Nooks and it has been such a joy connecting with the staff, other vendors, and seeing customers’ faces light up when they see something that appeals to their soul.

We hope that people in our community see us as creative, community-minded, spirited, kind, inspired, and as allies in creative visioning and mutual success.

What stories do you have or struggles have you overcome that will encourage the development and strengthen the identity of the Canadian-crafted industry?

We bring our life experiences, including as healers and activists to our crafting.

We rely on our creativity, resourcefulness, and resilience to navigate the daily challenges before us, and work to apply the same creativity to the crafting work that we do. We are always dreaming, creating, and evolving-- in art and in life!
